A responsible breeder creates a litter of puppies with a goal in mind, that which is to improve the breed with each and every litter. Most of the time, we as breeders, will keep puppies out of our own litters, to add to our own breeding program, so thus we will select parents that not only complement each others strengths and weaknesses, but we pay a lot of attention to avoiding using dogs with genetic problems and issues. Unfortunately, as hard as we try, there are no guarantees that every puppy we produce, will be genetically sound in every area, that is just the way 'Mother Nature' works. Just because both parents have been screened, or come from generations of proven, sound, breeding stock and lines, does not mean that they cannot produce a genetically unsound puppy, or that every one of their pups will be genetically sound in every way. You as the potential client can greatly improve your chances of getting a healthy puppy, by buying from a reputable breeder who has done their homework, and uses only sound foundation in their breeding program. Another thing to look for in a breeder is one that has been breeding for a long enough time that they, without a doubt, have the experience needed to have proven their lines, over and over again, for many generations, with very few problems. Buyer beware: you may be able to find a cheaper puppy, but keep in mind that a puppy who is poorly bred, or not raised with love and keen attention to the detail that is necessary, is not a bargain.
Here at Red Rock Ranch, we are striving to produce a very sound dog that will have the best possible chance of living a long, normal, healthy life. We research long and hard, to find lines that are 'Proven' sound and stable. We have worked very hard, to establish a sound breeding program, that we have been working on for over 13 years now, and we have now produced 6 and 7 generations of, from our very own foundation lines. And I am happy to say that we have have accomplished this with very, very, few problems being produced. Because we have become accustomed to a breeding program of this quality, when we choose to add new lines, we add only lines from reputable breeders, like ourselves, that have had many years experience with their lines, so we know that there are as few problems as possible being brought in, with the new lines. As we mentioned before, we have had many many years, and many generations now, of good success with sound genetics, showing that our lines have been proven without a doubt, and thus we can offer our future buyers, references from our many years of satisfied clients, who I'm sure would love to brag a bit, about the puppies that they have gotten from us over the years. We have many clients that come back to us, even years later, to get another puppy from us because they had such a great expeience with the first puppy we sold them. We are also very proud to be Veterinarian and Trainer recommended and approved, and this reference is gladly offered as well.
Because 'Mother Nature' sometimes has a mind of her own, we do offer a written guarantee on all of our Red Rock Ranch Puppies.
HEALTH GUARANTEE:
We guarantee that the puppy that we sell our clients, is a purebred Labrador Retriever, with AKC registered parents, and is eligable for registration with the AKC, whether limited or full is offered. All of our Labrador Retrievers are registered as either Yellow, Black, or Chocolate. We are happy to provide you with the registration numbers of both parents at the time your deposit is made, in order to help ease your mind.
We guarantee that the puppy you get from us is in good health at the time you receive him/her, and we guarantee that the puppy is up to date on all vaccines required for a puppy of that age, and is up to date on wormings required for his age. At the average time of delivery, which is 8-10wks of age, the pups will have had 3-4 vaccinations into them and will have been routinely wormed as well, 3-6 times during that period of time. We use what we feel to be the best vaccines that are available, never skimping on price, as well as the fact that we use several different wormers, instead of just one wormer, which is what most breeders use (for more info on our vaccination and worming schedule, and recommended protocol after taking the puppy home, please see our 'Vaccinations and Worming' page).
Puppies that are picked up by the client or delivered personally by us to the client, may or may not have been seen by a Lisc. Vet prior to the client taking possesion of their puppy. We do not take our puppies into the Vet unless it is absolutly necessary, and this is due to the fact that the Vets office is the best place for our litters to pick up a disease or virus, and so we do not think it is wise to take that chance. All puppies that are shipped to the client, either by way of air carrier or a hired ground transport service, are seen by a Lisc. Vet, and are assigned a health certificate and clean bill or health, prior to leaving our home (for more on shipping please see our "Shipping" page). When you get your new RRR puppy, whether you pick up your pup personally, or if they are shipped (and have already been seen by a lisc Vet on our end), we require that the pup is seen by a Lisc. Veterinarian, of the clients choice, within 72 hours of being picked up from our home, or delivered to you. This Vet appointment is necessary for any and all guarantees to be in affect. This is the responsibility both physically and financially, of the new owner. In the event that the Vet, at that time, were to find that the puppy is not in good health, or should find that the pup has a condition (i.e. heart murmur-other than pediatric, or any other ailment that will affect the puppy leading a full life), that puppy can be returned to Us and we will replace the puppy with another one of the same quality/sex/color/registration etc. when one becomes available. (Please see our "Contracts" page, to see full instructions for returning the puppy ). We have never had a puppy returned to us because of this, but we do want to let you know, that there will always be a first time for everything, and we stand behind our dogs.
We also stand behind the guarantee of our puppies being free of contageous disease when they leave for their new home. You can view our complete guarantee on this matter, by reading our 'Contracts' page on our website. Our puppies are wormed many times, for every possible parasite and treated as well with topicals, for fleas and ticks. We are very proactive in our parasite control, however as a breeder, you can only do so much to prevent parasites, and even though we will have done everything needed to make sure that the pup is parasite free, (both internally and extrenally) we can not, and will not guarantee the puppy or dog is parasite free.
GENETIC GUARANTEE:
We offer a 24 month written guarantee against Hereditary debilitating Hip Dysplaysia, Elbow Dysplasia, and Eye Disease. Because the price of our dilute (silver/charcoal) coat color puppies is more than the price of our standard, traditional coat colors of yellow/black/chocolate, all our dilute puppies automatically come with the 24m guarantee. On our traditional, standard coat color puppies (yellow/black/chocolate) we offer the client the opportunity to choose whether they want to purchase the puppy with the 24m guarantee or purchase the puppy without the 24m guarantee. If the client chooses to purchase the puppy without the guarantee, then the price of the puppy is discounted by $200. Please contact us for pricing on our puppies.
Any puppy bought as a pet on limited registration, and unable to function as a household pet due to one of these hereditary diseases, will be replaced. We do not guarantee an OFA passing rating on any puppy purchased as a pet on limited registration. It is a replacement guarantee. We do not feel that it is fair to ask for your puppy to be given back to us, or for you to have to euthanize your pet, in order for you to recieve this guarantee, therefore we will give you another puppy, only asking that the affected dog be spayed or neutered, prior to the replacement puppy being shipped, delivered, or picked up. The puppy will be replaced with the same color/sex/quality/registration as the original, when another puppy of equality is available. Due to varying circumstances, another puppy may not be available immediately, therefore the replacement time frame will be at the breeders discretion.
Any puppy bought for breeding on full registration, that does not pass OFA on his/her hips, or does not pass CERF testing at the age of 24m, will be replaced. The same terms for a pet puppys replacement, apply to the replacement terms of the full registration puppy, except that the replacement puppy in this case will be offered on full registration, as the first affected puppy was purchased with. We do not guarantee that the dogs elbows pass on a full registration puppy/dog, but if the dogs elbows are causing clinical signs of disease, then the puppy will be replaced.
The shipping, and or transport, pick up, or delivery of the replacement puppy offered by the guarantee, is the sole responsibility of the client/owner, both financially and physically, in both cases.
In order for the guarantee to be honored, all Red Rock Ranch puppies and dogs, MUST (no exceptions) be microchipped prior to leaving our home, or in the event that we are out of microchips, the puppy will have to be implanted by the clients Vet, at the initial 72hour health check, after the puppy is recieved, and the microchip brand, number and date of implant has to be emailed to us, the breeder within 24hours of implanting. This will be the financial responsibility of the client, if the breeder is out of M/C's and the puppy is sent without being M/C from the breeder. In the event that the owners do not have the puppy microchipped by a lisc Vet within the 72 hour period, and if they fail to send the proper documentaion to us in the proper time frame, then the guarantee will no longer be valid or offered and the guarantee will be null and void.
Our guarantees come in the form of a written guarantee, that is provided to our clients, prior to their gaining physical possession of the puppy. AKC papers will not be sent on any puppies in which the contracts have not been filled out and returned to the kennel. After the approprate contracts have been filled out and sent back to us, we will then send out the AKC papers on the puppy that was purchased.
To view the entire Guarantee Contracts please see the "Guarantee" page, which is available by the link at the bottom of this page. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me anytime, Im always happy to talk with you.
